Moose and I are looking at getting a laptop but neither one of us knows much about them! I found this one at Best Buy, thoughts? Suggestions on a different one? We are wanting to spend around $700 or less. My only requirment is that it has the #pad on it.

The graphics card is Class III (mid-rangish) according to http://www.notebookcheck.net/ATI-Radeon ... 493.0.html

It's not bad but you would want something better for gaming performance. Other specs are okay. 6 GB RAM is a lot, you getting 64 bit with that Windows 7? Chem or Fire should be able to give more info on these specs.

Not really going to be a PC for gaming, since we are only playing SWGEmu, and I'm sure it'd run that. We arent playing anything else at the moment.

It's mostly a PC for Moose to use at School, me to do bookkeeping with (QuickBooks) and for SWGEmu.

The Intel Core i3 and i5 just release last month so when I was looking @ laptops I only looked at those. Intel's i cores are amazing. Problem is the cheapest one I found was @ Dell for $650 and that comes with an integrated graphics card. 2nd looks like its even cheaper now: http://www.dell.com/us/en/home/notebook ... td-anav3~~

You will get less RAM but you will be getting DDR3 instead of DDR2, better processor, slightly better FX card, same HD space, and a bigger screen.

Chem was crapping on Dell, but I definitely could not find a laptop for a better price.

Where dell shines is in there 'Complete care' offering, Which is a very expensive warranty package. there formerly stellar support and awesome customer service has been outsourced and is pretty horrible. All in all Dell is only still alive because all they do is box products made by someone else. They don't actually invent anything like the HP's, IBM's of the world so they don't have an RD budget to offset.

If you are not going to go for the complete care, then just get the best deal that you and roll the dice on your hardware holding out. TBH for something that's just for school work and some personal accounting, you might want to take a look at a netbook. Hell if the system reqs are the same for the EMU as the original SWG you will probably be able to play it pretty well on one, or atleast better then you are used to. I remember you had some pretty bad machines back in the day.

Netbooks don't have the numberpad on them, so sadly that's my only requirement lol.

Gonna keep looking around. I'm not sure I want a Dell, honestly. but if they have the best PC for the Best Price, then I'll consider it.

Comment to your original find:

I have always had good luck with HPs. Never a problem, and like you said, it'll run SWGEmu and do everything else you need it to do...

Most importantly....it'll run SWGemu....
